SEVENTH ANNUAL SQUEEZEBOX WEEKEND, JUNE 21-23 2019!!

Yes folks, I KNOW it’s “Maine Fiddle Camp”, but we all know MFC is about a LOT more than fiddles. The second June weekend has been “Maine Squeezebox Weekend” since 2013! Here’s what we have to offer:

The second weekend in June features instruction in Piano Accordion, Button Accordion and English and Anglo Concertina. For teachers we have Sabin Jacques for button accordion, Nancy 3 Hoffman and Sunniva Brynnell for piano accordion, David Stimson for English concertina, and Grey Larsen for Anglo concertina.

Here’s a brief rundown of each of the teachers:

Sabin

Sabin Jacques
Sabin Jacques

Sabin Jacques, from Quebec (near Quebec City), is a member of the Quebecois band, Raz-de-Marée (Tidal Wave) along with Maine Fiddle Camp staff members Rachel Aucoin, Eric Favreau and Stuart Kenney. Sabin has been at camp a couple times as a camper accompanying his wife, Rachel, and their kids, Matthieu and Gabriel. He is a master of the Quebecois style button accordion and foot percussion! You might notice from the picture above he plays left handed. Here’s a video clip Raz-de-Marée “in action” at Dance Flurry a few years ago. I like this video a lot because the accordion is so energetic and REALLY cuts through!! If you like French Canadian music, note that the whole band, Raz-de-Marée, will be at camp for the June 21-23 weekend and Rachel, Eric and Stuart will be on board the for the June week. Sabin has taught at festivals and camps all across North America and Europe and will be teaching accordion during the weekend session.
